R.E.A.L. Education’s Co-Founder Brian Smith has been awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Year Honours list for ‘Services to Education’.
This well-deserved accolade came as a complete surprise to Brian, who has recently stepped down from his role as Chairman at R.E.A.L. Education to focus his energy on raising the profile of R.E.A.L.’s charity arm, the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust.
Brian said: “What a wonderful surprise and honour it is to receive this award, I feel it is a reflection of the great work that the team around me have put in over the years and I’m now looking forward to being able to more time into the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust and helping with the great work they do with young people and their families”.
Richard Smith, Co-Founder & Joint Managing Director said: “R.E.A.L. Education wouldn’t exist without Dad’s vision, determination and drive. His focus and goals have never wavered, and his example to staff when working with vulnerable and challenging young people is an example to all.
“Dad really is an asset to the education world, and I am so proud that he can now add MBE to his name.”
Brian’s next mission is to continue to raise the profile of the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust and extend its reach in providing support services for children and families who need it most.
Congratulations Brian Smith MBE!
